Geoverse, Druid team up to enable private LTE networks’ full functionality

Enterprise mobile network operator Geoverse announced this week it signed a software supply agreement with Irish cellular network software company Druid Software. The companies’ team-up is geared towards leveraging the opportunity presented by the availability of the Citizens Broadband Radio Service (CBRS), the new 4G LTE radio spectrum in the United States.
Geoverse plans to use Druid’s Raemis software to provide a dual-purpose solution—a private LTE network for corporate-level applications and additional in-building coverage and capacity for mobile operators, also know as Neutral Host. Geoverse is also using its new partner’s software to place the mobile core network at the edge, referred to as Geoverse Edge EPC, where secure connections are made with enterprise networks that give enterprises full control over their users’ data. The Edge EPC will also decrease latency, which is critical to big data functions, robotics, augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR) and emerging connected devices.
“Geoverse aims to give enterprises and commercial real estate the performance and security of LTE with the simplicity of WiFi,” Geoverse CEO and co-founder Rod Nelson told Connected Real Estate Magazine. “Leveraging Druid’s rich experience in enterprise cellular networking, Geoverse and Druid are together creating a proprietary solution which gives enterprise superior control, privacy, security, and analytics allowing businesses to leverage the full strength of private LTE networks.”
One of the biggest benefits the Georverse Private LTE solution will provide is the same network will service the mainstream carriers’ customers who occupy or visit the building or enterprise. The neutral host solution provides incremental coverage and capacity in a cost-effective manner.
“The availability of CBRS spectrum is a game-changer for our cellular network platform and Geoverse is the ideal partner with the capability, knowledge, and profile to make the Private LTE proposition a success,” Druid Software CEO Liam Kenny said in a release. “We look forward to serving similar verticals in the US to those we already serve in Europe including, hospitals, elderly dare, manufacturing, port automation, public office and energy providers.”
