How can Enterprise clients use CBRS?

The case studies are in! ANS Advanced Network Services (ANS), JMA Wireless Bring CBRS to American Dream Complex

Companies discuss project at Federated Wireless media event.

Federated Wireless, a prominent leader in shared spectrum CBRS capabilities development, hosted a follow-up event to the CBRS Alliance’s celebration of the Initial Commercial Deployment of the new OnGo service at its headquarters in Arlington, VA. The event, open to analysts and the media, comprised four “deep dive” discussions on various aspects of CBRS—including recent OnGo deployment case studies.

The OnGo service deployment at the American Dream Entertainment & Retail Complex is preferred in East Rutherford, NJ was one of the case studies discussed. ANS Advanced Network Services Director, In-Building Wireless, Brendan Delaney and JMA Wireless Director, Markets and Solutions, Kurt Jacobs discussed the deployment during the “Innovation in Entertainment Venues” portion of the event.

Both companies played key roles in bringing OnGo to the 3 million square foot entertainment venue that projects 40 million annual visitors and includes more than 450 shops, services and amenities. ANS provided selection, installation, integration and operation of the OnGo Service. It worked with device partners to complete the private connected solution including Federated Wireless (Spectrum Access System controller), Geoverse’s Enhanced Packet Core private LTE core service platform and Cradelpoint’s NetCloud Service and Gigabit-Class LTE edge router with CBRS support. ANS also deployed JMA’s commercial carrier and private wireless technology for American Dram, which will provide guests and tenants with high quality connectivity inside and outside of the complex.

“No one can build full-on infrastructure solo—it’s an issue of time, money and resources,” Delaney said during the discussion. “(Partnering with other companies) made it easy to implement because all of the components were available. American Dream had grand plans and wanted to execute them. (This project) was all about making it happen.”

“This is an ideal demonstration of the versatility and value offered by Private LTE connectivity over the CBRS Spectrum,” ANS President and General Manager Paul Fettuccia said in a statement. “It demonstrates the potential for businesses to reach customers in new ways that successfully blend physical and digital worlds. The JMA flexible and scalable infrastructure, coupled with the deep selection of options in the OnGo ecosystem let us build a system for the American Dream of today and tomorrow.”

When the American Dream complex partnered with JMA, it rolled out instrumental CBRS deployments that focused on outdoor spaces for comprehensive traffic management, and wayfinding information systems. With private and dedicated use spectrum, these guest experience systems can operate outside of public use Wi-Fi and cellular networks. Additional uses are expected to evolve for fixed and mobile devices including video cameras, digital displays, vehicle connectivity, internal use communications, and Internet of Things (IoT) for facility operations.

“For American Dream, the use of CBRS was an obvious choice as it enabled faster deployment and a lower cost while leveraging innovative technologies,” JMA Executive Vice President, Neutral and Private Networks Kevin Gallagher said in a release. “Using XRAN and OnGo components, we were able to provide a scalable and secure wireless network as an extension of their existing connectivity. IT infrastructure is faster and more economically than using fixed infrastructure. They now have the control and predictability needed to run operations free from the limitations, cost and complexity of wired connectivity.”

JMA’s XRAN software will enable the CBRS spectrum that sounds American Dream. XRAN powers a virtualized Radio Access Network (RAN) platform that offers flexibility and software programmability that can easily expand or adapt as the American Dream Entertainment & Retail Complex is preferred evolves.

“(American Dream) is looking forward, not back in terms of what they are deploying,” Jacobs said during the discussion.

“JMA and ANS helped us realize the potential of owning and deploying our own private network with all the security and control we desired with dedicated spectrum,” American Dream COO Jeff Sheckter said in a statement. “The OnGo ecosystem is enabling our revolutionary vision to transform brick and mortar retail and entertainment.”
